I’ve been trying to have a new motto for myself to help keep me focused. These are difficult times on many levels and it can get easy to fall into a pity pot and forget all we have to be grateful for each day.
My motto is 4 fold:
Hope
Love
Always look for the good
Be grateful
In today’s gospel we hear about the leper who came back to give thanks for his healing. Jesus asks, “Ten were cleansed, were they not ? Where are the other nine?”

How often do I do this? Forget to be grateful. Overlook the many ways Christ heals and is with me. Forget that it is His grace alone that heals me not anything I do or do not do. That it is all about His goodness and mercy.
The weight of the cross in this life can be hard. We can find ourselves falling, struggling to continue the journey., blind to the good in our lives. We must always remember we are not alone. That even if we fall and struggle under the weight of our cross, Jesus and Mary and our guardian angels are with us, step by step giving us the strength we need at each moment to continue.
It’s not easy but the cross carries with it the promise of everlasting life. Of joy, and peace and love. No matter what I may be “feeling” may I never forget the triumph of the cross and Christs love and mercy for me.
May I never forget like this one leper to thank Him in the midst of it all.
