Embracing the Wound

With wounds so deep as that of abortion we can often get caught up in the triggers of our experience sometimes without even recognizing it.

Perhaps we accept unacceptable behavior because there is a part of us that feels unworthy or maybe we feel every argument is the end of a relationship instead of just a disagreement, or perhaps we punish ourselves through various means and get angry at that part of ourselves that consented to terminating the life inside us.

It can be difficult to identify some of our behaviors as an abortion connector, that it why it is always important to step back and pray before we react to a given situation

I think some of these things will always be with us in this life. The change with healing comes in being able to identify them and not allow them to control our lives. To embrace that part of our “self” that’s still suffering instead of running from it, or denying it. To love and console it as Jesus does if there is true contrition.

Healing from the deep wound of abortion can be difficult but Jesus and Mary are with us on the journey always providing what we need to work through the trials.

When you’re in the midst of the storm remember that. Even if you cannot feel Their presence they are there guiding you to the peace that God longs to give you.
