Turn your eyes to what is gained.

I just got a message from someone in the Entering Canaan ministry. She , and many others struggle with the Advent & Christmas season.

The holidays can amplify grieving and loss, and in the case of abortion can remind you of all you were not by chosing abortion.

It can be hard to swallow Mary’s “yes” in the face of your “no”. Her faithfulness and trust despite what could happen to her, in the face of your lack of trust. If you aborted because of money, you see her having Jesus in poverty, if you worried about your future, you see her trusting to the point of folly- nothing could come to obstruct God’s will in her -“be it done unto me according to Your will”.

While many of us felt or believed it meant our very life we have found in many ways it robbed us of life, not only the life of our child but of ourselves, the very thing we sought to save.

Yes, Christmas can be hard, but instead of focusing on what is lost turn your eyes to what is gained. A Merciful Savior come to bring salvation. One who embraces us in our misery and longs to give us eternal life. One who died for our sins because He loves us.

Mary was consumed by the grace of God always living in His will- His will is that we all be saved. She is a mercuful mother who loves us and consented to the death of her son to bring us eternal life. We can forget about that if we look only to the world and what is missing instead of eternal life and all it offers.

This Advent and Christmas season turn your gaze to what is given, not what is lost- the birth of Jesus Christ, our merciful savior, and allow yourself the peace, joy and love He longs to bring you!
