I love the season of Lent. It truly is a time to detach more from the world and focus more deeply on the sacrifice of Christ and our eternal home. To recognize how in the end all that really matters is the salvation of our soul and union with God
By our practices of prayer, penance and almsgiving we are more in touch with the everlasting and how this life is fleeting for “ from dust we came and to dust we will return”
For those of us who have had an abortion it is a deeper immersion into the love and mercy of God who sent His only son into the world for the forgiveness of sin so that we may have eternal life.
As we come to know the severity and depth of the sin of abortion we also come to know more intimately the endless depth of love and mercy of God the Father for us. The mystery of our redemption manifested through the life death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.
How amazing and wonderous
is this act of self emptying love. Even the horrific act of Abortion the ultimate failure of love cannot conquer the love of Christ who even in the midst of darkness, abandonment, betrayal overcomes sin and death. Even abortion cannot kill love.
No matter where you may be in your journey to God embrace the cross this lent- the place where the ultimate love took on the ultimate sin and gained for us everlasting life.
